I’m Ali Kuru and this is my personal weblog.
I’m a Biologist, who has a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Industrial Microbiology. I was affiliated with the University of Mersin as a research assistant between December 2001 and March 2010. After completing my long overdue -obligatory- military service, I started working as an Editor for the Farmaskop Magazine, which was a niche publication on popular medicine. I was responsible from the magazine’s online content and social media interaction between May 2011 and February 2013.
On March 2013, right before the Farmaskop ceased publishing its bi-monthly issues, I switched to the oldest project under the same publishing group: MediaCat Magazine. During my time on MediaCat, I was responsible for the magazine’s online content. I also contributed to the social media/digital news section on the monthly issues.
On October 2015, Kapital Media, the company I worked for went on reconstructing its organizational structure and I’ve been offered to work as the Head of Digital. I’m now responsible for all our digital assets including, but not limited to, both MediaCat’s and Digital Age’s web sites, e-magazines, e-books, social media accounts etc. I also oversee digital projects and sponsorships for our marketing events Brand Week Istanbul and Digital Age Summit.
As I’ve mentioned in the first line, this is a personal blog, hence it lacks focus. In fact, this blog is practically a placeholder for my name.com
. I rarely find time to put something worth reading here and, when I find, I mostly write about the things that annoy me. If you can read Turkish, check out the Artık Kültür instead, where I write the fun stuff.
You can find me on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google+. In case you need to get in touch via email, here is my address: [email protected].
