About
Hi, my name is Ali Kuru.
I’m a Ph.D. candidate at the Biology department of University of Mersin, Turkey, who is studying industrial enzymology. I’m also affiliated with the University of Mersin as a research assistant since the beginning of 2002.
Besides my boring work and studies, I’m interested in geekery, gadgets and all things about ever-evolving web. I’ve started blogging with a blog named Acemi Blogcu at 2005, which was targeting Turkish audience and was about blogs, blogging, internet services, social media etc. Soon after that, I’ve created Blogger Templates, which also became quite popular at that time.
During blogging at Acemi Blogcu, I joined the team of local WordPress enthusiasts at WordPress Turkey, and served as an administrator for a while. Unfortunately, I had to break these time consuming blogging habits of mine after two years, due to my heavy work at the university. I’m not writing to Acemi Blogcu, and I’m not an active member of the WordPress Turkey community any more. Also, I’ve sold the Blogger Templates to a Californian; it is no longer belonging to me.
Since blogging is a really nasty habit, quitting it is not as easy is quitting smoking. So, instead of resisting, I’ve decided to start a new one to ease the pain, and decided to keep it personal this time.
You can follow me via Twitter @alikuru or, if texts longer than 140 characters don’t scare you, you can subscribe to this blog and read my posts. You can’t find me on Facebook, sorry. It is not – and never will be – the definition of “being social” for me.
I like reading e-mails, you can always shoot me one in case of emergency;
